The Desoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center set in Arcadia Florida will generate 25 megawatts of energy, a startling increasse of double the amount of energy this is produced by what is now the nations second largest photovoltaic facility in the US.
The plant is set on 180 acres of land about 80 miles southeast of Tampa.
While the plant is now the largest, it will soon be eclipsed by larger plants in the makings in Nevada and California.
The Desoto facility and two other solar projects, Florida company Florida Power and Light, are spearheading are estimated to generate 110 megawatts of power. Thus cutting greenhouse emissions by more than 3.5 million tons, an equivalent of taking 25,000 cars off the road every year.
