OK, I've had the 2 arrays of 4x100W in series up for about a week now. It has been working fine, and thought I had maxed out the controller (100V limit). Now I'm wondering about three 3x100W arrays. This would lower my 80V to more like 60, and give 16.5A instead of 11. Would the line loss not be worth the extra 100W panel? CC is 25ft away using 8awg cable.
Who makes a 200 watt panel here in the United States?

Today I was getting 88V from my 2x4 panel arrays. I'm wondering if it can go any higher in winter? If so, I may need to reconfigure as 100V is CC limit.900W, 40A MPPT, 230AH FLA,24V Samlex 1500WComment

There might be ways to mitigate that high input voltage without rewiring the panels but I will let others provide suggestions.Comment

Not enough irradiance when the sun first hits the panels to cause a problem. How cold does it get where you are? You will probably be ok if your morning temp doesn't drop much below freezing.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

I'd say from late November until early March there are usually some below freezing mornings, like 28F and 30F. We do get arctic freezes sometimes come down and hover sub freezing blue skies for a week or 2. I'm in SW WA.900W, 40A MPPT, 230AH FLA,24V Samlex 1500WComment

your panels may have some temperature compensation numbers, or you may be able to surf to the controllers website, and use their on-line array sizer and see what values that gives youPowerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||

You can find the list of manufactures who produce 200watt solar panels on enfsolar website. They have list of all solar panels manufacturers. ASW, Atlantis solar, Auxin Solar, ecoSolargy are some the companies among the list.Comment

I know that Global Solar in Tucson makes 200 watt panels, they are thinfilm however, I don't know if that's a dealbreaker.Comment

I found at least 3 US-based solar panel manufacturers that offer 200 Wp models (under STC).
1. Ameresco 200J (poly), 4200J (mono)
2. Amerisolar AS-5M 185-210W (mono), AS-5M Black (mono),
3. Alps Technology ATI-200 Series (poly)
Question to the mods: is it OK to link a reference website in the answer?Comment
