Okay, I heard this mentioned in an earlier post, on a different forum with some huge price tag, but I just got a sales Email(from sunelec) it's priced at $1000.
It's from Akerson Heart, who sold his inverter company in the 90's?, and has setup shop in Belize
It appears to accept, 12-48volt DC input, has high efficiency 93%, and if I'm reading it right, can be off grid or back feed the grid.
More importantly it's a Smart Grid inverter, I've been following the problems with heavy reliance on alt power that Germany is having and I suspect if we have any intelligence left in congress that soon we will require grid tied inverters to be smart grid compliant. Allowing the power company to shut them down for short periods to power up/down generation to keep things running smoothly.
Info From Them Here.
Short article Here.
I see lots of applications, if only in a Starter system helper in growing a system, appears modular, so a starter might use a single unit in their basic system with a 12 volt battery bank, then add modules and change battery voltages as their system grows(actually doesn't appear to support 48volt as max is below a 48v charging current) as their system grows. I need to read up more on these thingy.
Any one have more information about these inverter/transverters? There is also a controller unit that goes along with the transverter, I haven't found a price on that yet.
