    Conductive Copper Tape

    I've seen this You-tube clip (http://youtu.be/R0s3veV44Kc) and my question is;

    What is the electrical degradation if any, from soldering to conductive copper tape.

    With a Solar Cell you have atoms and such like bouncing all over the place and they can pass through walls, so a bit of adhesive is not going to stop much, I would of thought.

    Be very careful of what you see on youtube - that site (youtube) must hit about the 99.9% BS level.

      I was going to say that it couldn't be that high but, even 0.1% of billions of videos is still a lot. There is some good info on there but like you say be very careful of who you listen to. I've seen some scary electrical setups that I can't beleive someone would be proud of and post video of. And I've also learned quite a bit on there from people that really knew their stuff and University lectures are good, so the more I think about it your 99 crap vids to 1 informatime is pretty close. lol

        Technical note: 99.9% is 999 out of 1000, not 99 out of 100. But I guess off by a factor of 10 is still close.
        Also frustrating is that some crap videos get megahits while some really good ones get less than 100.

          Technical note: It would actualy be a factor of 10.09090909090909 but I guess saying 10 is close enough. JK

          But seriously what bothers me the most is the so called experts in any given field but ecspecialy solar that give dangerous advice.

            You must have very thin walls!

            so a bit of adhesive is not going to stop much, I would of thought
            You'd be amazed at the destruction that just a little bit of dirt can cause on a high current connector.

              The point is that people will believe what they want to hear.
              if they want to believe that they can go off grid and eliminate their electric bill for an investment of $200 that's what they believe and there is no turning them from that belief other than the bitter taste of defeat or being swindled.

              "There is a sucker born every minute" PT Barnum said that over 100 years ago. It still holds true today. The internet holds a lot of information. Most bad but some accurate.
              The trick is to know the difference.
              Another old saying that still holds true " If it sounds too good to be true It probably isn't true"
