Just learned a friend of mine passed away, Mike Burgess. I met Mike through this forum and met him personally out in Calaphonie. Very good man, gone but not forgotten. Catch up with you later, Mike. Take care and watch out for us.

He lived about a hundred miles from me, I mentioned to him once that I was passing through his area and he invited me by for coffee and I'm kicking myself for not taking him up on the offer. He invited me into his facebook group dealing with off grid living at his ranch and it was fun reading about all of the fun he and his wife were having building his place, how proud he was of his masonry heater, re-filling the Edison batteries (I think he might have posted here about them), the nuts and truffles he was harvesting, volunteering on the Skunk Train, chief-engineering at the local radio station, playing Santa Claus, all kinds of things. I'm sad that I squandered the chance to meet him, I passed through his town several times and always felt like I was too busy to stop.
