I have a bank of Li-Ion batteries (48v/105Ah) that need to be charged to power up my charge controller. What recommendations do you have to accomplish this?

Are you saying that you have a bank of batteries and a charge controller, but you have no photovoltaic panels?

The charger depends on which chemistry the Lithium batteries are. That will determine the voltage needed.9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012Comment

no, i have a complete system 4.8k. it ran fine for two years, thenstopped last month. Inorder to check the controller is has to be activated. to do that, it have to be connected to charged batteries totalling over 500Ah. the bank is proper size, but in need of charging (dead).. What is the proper way to charge the Li-Ion batteries? Is there a certain type of battery charger needed for this task?

The proper way to charge any battery is to use the correct voltage for the chemistry of the battery. There are a number of different types of Lithium Ion batteries. Tell us specifically what type or what voltage you previously set your charge controller and that might be a starting point to answer your question. So far, all we know is the nominal voltage of 48 volts and the size is 105.Amphours.Last edited by Ampster; 07-06-2022, 09:08 AM.9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012Comment

I can barely read something that says 54.6 volts. If indeed that is the correct charging voltage then a charger that will charge at that voltage is what you need. Alternately a power supply that can be adjusted to that voltage will work. What is the voltage of the batteries now?9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012Comment

Empty? Or has the internal BMS tipped because one cell hit the low voltage disconnect? Or if you are lucky they are fully charged and BMS disconnected because one cell hit high voltage disconnect. I think you may need to talk to manufacturer to see what needs to be done to reboot. Perhaps there is some warranty left if indeed they are empty.Last edited by Ampster; 08-15-2022, 05:33 PM.9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012Comment
