I wish I did not have to do this but.....I live at the end of a small terrace of 3 cottages. On 8th October my immediate neighbours had a 12 panel solar system put on their roof. When my daughter (who was staying with me at the time) and I woke up, we thought we were going to die. Our hearts were pounding, our insides were vibrating, we were stumbling around and had to hold onto things to keep upright, v bad headaches, a constant 'tumble drying noise', screaming tinnitus, shaking hands, feeling numb. Over the next couple of days we realised that we couldn't sleep, if we did it was only briefly and the ability to sleep properly has completely disappeared. Our symptoms got slightly better when the scaffolding was removed a couple of weeks later. I could go on boring you forever. Our doctor said to contact Environmental Health asap but long story short, I have had a reply saying I should seek out psychological help and have probably got SAD. I am fuming. We had sudden onset, violent symptoms. In addition, I mentioned that I feel very much worse late at night/early morning, when the whole house seems to vibrate, my bed vibrates and I lurch about as if completely drunk. I said that I feel better when having a bath (it's cast iron) and when I leave the house all my symptoms disappear (I have just spent the best part of 3 days at my daughters and I felt well and slept like a log) I have also told him that late at night my upstairs lights and sometimes my downstairs lights 'flick' - while having a 20 minute bath the lights would do this at least 6 times. This has never happened before. EH seem to be more concerned with the fact that my neighbours paid a lot of money (for their free electricity) and that the system is working well. Can [I] please ask anyone, who may have information or experience of this to help me with information? I am at my wits end and feel so ill. Also, if a system is turned off do the smart meters keep working? Have always had mobiles/computers/telly's/microwaves etc etc with no problem plus living joined to neighbours we have had their appliances affecting us too but no previous problems. Scored 40 out of 50 on the IERVN questionnaire.
Severe health effects fron neighbours solar panels

Flower - You seem to have some rather severe mental health problems. What you describe is pure BS.
I suggest you see a shrink and try to get "normalized" - otherwise you are headed for the loony bin.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] -
I am fairly new here and have come to appreciate the bluntness from Russ. He could very well be accurate in his assessment, but I will mention one other possibility:
The most common symptoms of CO poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. High levels of CO inhalation can cause loss of consciousness and death. Unless suspected, CO poisoning can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms mimic other illnesses. People who are sleeping or intoxicated can die from CO poisoning before ever experiencing symptoms.
It sounds like symptoms began occurring in the fall when your heating system most likely started being used. The solar installation is coincidental to your symptoms and not the cause of them. Carbon monoxide poisoning is a real possibility from the symptoms you are describing. Especially when you feel better after leaving the environment. Your symptoms appearing at night and lessening throughout the day is another indicator as your heating system is kicking in at night and not needed as much during the days yet. You need to have a professional check out the possibility of CO poisoning immediately!Comment

By the way, solar generation only occurs during the day and the system is completely off at night, so if you have health issues all day and it worsens at night, it can't be due to solar because there's no solar generation at night.Comment

I agree the symptoms of the OP's has nothing to do and is in any way related to the solar pv system.
But GridGrants makes a pretty good point about Carbon Monoxide poisoning as a potential reason for the OP's bad health. At least it is something they need to investigate.Comment

Sounds like the Smart Meter the electric company is installing on houses. Maybe "sick" with envy of the nice system next door ?Comment

Envy
Haha I would be envious to have a cottage with solar panels!
A little late to the post, but just going to reaffirm what everyone else has said. It's not the solar panels.Try sleeping in a hotel somewhere and see if you still feel that way.

Nice responses from you obviously intelligent, testosterone-hyped men. I am a supporter of solar power but a school across from my home just set up a massive solar array project 4 units 20' high with about 264 panels on each unit. Since they completed the project the Tinnitus for me and a guest has been off the chart and now my blood pressure meds aren't working. Just a coincidence?Comment

After 35 years in the electrical engineering field (including hands on solar panel research) I can tell you that a solar pv system will never generate any harmful affects that will hurt a human, including blood pressure increase or ringing in the ear issues.
I am not saying you and your guest are not having health issues, but I firmly believe they are not being caused by the solar pv system.
Too be safe please get checked out by your doctor to see what may be causing these issues which can be a result of noise and blood vessel size changes.Comment

I agree with you. She probably has a health issue. If her blood pressure is raising then Tinnitus can be a side affect. She needs to be checked out by her Doctor.Comment
