2.5 MW and a 120 foot rotor is not exactly small wind. In the right place it could be something practical. As to whether GE has really done something different or is just trying to artificially create a market differentiator, I cannot say.

I don't know about that TX is the USA number 1 wind energy generator at 12,200 MW and number 2 Calaphonie is a distant 2nd place at 5,500 MW. Number 3 is Iowa @ 5,100. Calaphomie and Iowa added together are still a distant 2nd place.

If you were to look globally at countries TX ranks number 6 in the world.

1. China = 75,000 Mw
2. USA = 60,000 Mw and TX has 21% of the share of the 30 states with wind power.
3. Germany = 31,000 Mw
4. Spain = 22,800 Mw
5. India = 19,500 Mw
6. TX = 12,000 Mw
7. UK = 8,455 Mw

I knew that Sunking couldn't miss hitting the bait that I threw out.

While I knew that Texas had a lot of wind turbines (seen them while flying to New Mexico which is where I am at the present), I didn't know where Tx ranked in wind energy generation. Being 6th in the world is pretty impressive.
