I thought Solar was part of the big "GO GREEN" attitude.

I guess its just the Government and big business talking out of both sides of their mouths again. Our Government is run by the Oil company's . But you all ready know that.

That is just plain ignorant. Your current POTUS wants to destroy Oil Companies and make you pay 400% more for energy silly. That is what he promised in the 2008 election, and he is trying to do just that. Oil companies have nothing to gain from solar.

The best part of being a true green is that one never has to think because some idiot has already canned the ''proper'' reply for anything such as oil companies, GMO products, nuclear etc.

Oil is big business - same as Apple is big business - nothing more and nothing less.

but i have not received any reply on my question?? any short course as yet? coz oil is not goin to be forever nor nuclear fuel which is costly and not every country can afford it...... i think solar has it future bright.... as long as the sun is there ... world is....

OK get yourself a two year degree in electrical technology, then go to work for a electrical contractor and obtain your electrical license.

I would suggest to go for the private course because in the university not the whole course is covered and sometimes the university do not have the license to teach so always go for the private course.

Solar education

Hi all. Yes I'm a neewbe here, but have recently read & printed a story about a group in Central America bringing inexpensive Solar Panel Technology to remote places that do not have access to electricity.
I plan to frame this story and hang it on the walls of the panel workshop I am building.
I may buy my panels in the future, but want to learn the complete process first.
I'm a HVAC Tech by trade

My local community college is offering "alternative energies" class, as part of a larger "certificate" program". The classes offered in the curriculum covers turbine systems, PC, conservation, design, all the things you think should be covered.
Briefly.
However the kicker is the "certificate" you receive is actually worthless as after completion you still are not licensed nor are you prepared to get licensed. None of the trades recognise the certificate and in the end you are $$$$ spent with nothing to show. Its one of those "for profit" type of classes. As are most of those classes you see on the internet.
As mentioned by others without an Electrical Engineering degree, or at the bare minimum a Electricians journeyman's card its hard to conceive that one would be competent enough or hold proper credentials to obtain employment in this field.
This stuff is can be potentially dangerous, and you just cant "play in the game" without understanding and abiding by the laws of physics.
Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but rather to direct you in a successful direction!!
HVAC would be an excellent place to start from or continue from! Good luck!
