    Description
    1. Two half globes attached to an interior band with protruding attachment points.
    Size: 4-8 feet in diameter
    2. A six to eight or more piece round solar collector made up of identical pie shaped
    pieces attached to an interior framework with protruding attachment pints.
    Size 8 to 20 plus feet in diameter.

    Solar Globes gain efficiency if placed above or beside natural or man made reflective surface.
    Application- Can be used on the side of a high rise or industrial building suspended on cables with a reflective surface backing them. On flat roofs with a reflective surface. Hundreds or thousands in a desert setting suspended on cables possibly 100 feet high. Two or three sitting on top of post in someone's back yard. Suspended on cables over the millions of acres of parking lots, roadways, railroad tracks.......

    Overview
    Solar globes can be installed at low cost in thousands of residential, commercial, industrial and public settings. It can supply 100% of the daylight electrical needs of this country in a cost effective and environmentally friendly way.

    I have had this idea for a couple of years now and I'm looking for feedback to it's validity. All comments are welcomed.

    interesting idea.... would you happen to have a sketch of this device? solar energy = energy is my opinion.... if you have something that creates energy, businesses and people can find a practical use for it especially since we have so many gadgets

    im still fascinated by samsung solar powered cellphone.

      There are solar concentrators available now - what you are describing is just a more expensive version of them I believe.

      The earths surface typically receives between 500 and 800 watts per m2 insolation - whether you collect this on the surface of a globe or on flat panel makes no difference. The same amount of acres of surface would be required either way.

        I understand what you are saying. But hanging in a vertical position wouldn't take land space. As in my parking lot picture example, they hang on cables above used space, but could be put in a desert as well. Anywhere there's a powerline, parking lot, railroad track, it could be in the air and being round would make them aerodynamic.

            You get the maximum output when the sun rays are directly striking the panel. For each degree less or more than a 90

                Cool looking boat, except... mid-way it looks like the designers needed to slap (literally) more solar panels onto the deck to get the power the ship would need to charge the batteries.
