what is in Solar industry?
The "solar industry" is a conglomeration of a lot of different industries. Most installers use a mix of components to build a system.
For example, solar panels. Sunpower, Kyocera, Trina, Jinko and Canadian are all large scale suppliers. Microinverters would mainly be Enphase, with a few smaller companies coming up quickly.
For grid tie inverters you mainly see SMA and Fronius. For grid tie inverters with optimizers, SolarEdge.
Off grid is a somewhat different market. Charge controllers would be Midnite and Outback, with both companies also making good off-grid inverters. Xantrex still has some presence in the inverter space. Trojan is definitely the leader in batteries, although Rolls makes much better ones. There are a few lithium chemistries becoming more popular.
Then there's racking, and balance-of-system components, and generators for off-grid installs . . . . there are a lot of parts to most systems.
