I have been very intrigued with this project and am very interested in attempting this project. My question is what kind of pump would I need for this project? I foresee the panels being mounted on the deck that surrounds the pool so there would not be a need to pump the water to the roof (20+ft vertical). Additionally how would the pump be controlled? I would not think that simply placing it on the same timer as the pool pump would be sufficient or needed at times base upon the temp of the pool water. Is there a site that can provide the information?

Strapping & Spacing your coils
Mike-Mat,
What did you use to strap down your coils. Also did you place spacers in between the layers on your coils or were you able to lay it flat and it simply stayed?

If you are "rolling your own" heater, you want to have enough fluid flow, that the warmed water, is only a little warmer than the feed water. If it feels hot, you need more flow, as hot water radaites heat fast, and you are trying to collect heat.
Taco has a line of good small water pumps, maybe browse through their site. Look for "recirculating pumps".Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||
