I have black dust in my pool and jaccuzi heated by the EPDM solar system. I just bought the house with the pool and figure out I can't use the pool or the jaccuzi because this black goo is very toxic and dangerous for my health. I did not notice first and used the jaccuzi, then had a fit of cough and saw this black little chips in the water. After cleaning it comes back. . I learned that it is a structural defect with every EPDM system that can never be corrected. The chloride breaks down the rubber material when heating. The company refuses to pay or replace anything. What is incredible is that they keep on selling them. If anyone knows a class action to sue these companies, I am interested to join.

FWIW, many of the home inspection warranties specifically exclude any and all residential solar energy systems. Check yours carefully. You might get lucky.Comment
