    AIR to water heat exchanger?

I have access to an air handler unit (picture a regular house hold furnace but instead of a burner it is equiped with a radiator),

I was wondering if I could expect any decent return using outside air temp to warm the pool water (my initial plan was to install the unit in the attic, however my wife freaked out about having circulating water in the attic). Or if the costs running the blower fan and circulating pump would be better spent somewhere else more effecient?

Is AIR -> WATER, in any form, a way to go?

In Qatar (120°F) maybe air to water in the summer - other places no.

In Qatar, I think you would be more concerned with cooling the pool.

You will get both better pool heating and better attic cooling during the summer by putting solar thermal (heat collecting) panels on top of your roof. That will both heat the pool water and keep the roof under them cooler.

You do not want to use any metal heat exchanger or piping with pool water (except maybe stainless steel) as it will be damaged by the pool chemicals.

Water in the attic in a jury rig installation can be a problem

But with the chlorine in it, it is less likely to cause mold.

Actually titanium holds up better for pool heating than stainless steel.

Titanium is also generally used in salt water systems where SS won't last

Actually you have a good plan Actually having installation on attic is considered as a problem However, try to use titanium so that you can have a good one.

i wont be investing in SS or titanium, the heat exchanger i have access to is from my business (free). we come across them often when tearing down buildings, just rarely come across pool boilers/heaters.
