I have a system that was installed in the Carter administration that I've been maintaining. Last summer I decided to brace the back of the three roughly 4'x8' panels with some blue board and 2x4's since the original insulation board had bowed badly. It was not until after I finished that I thought about the heat rating and what might happen. I left it over the summer and when I checked a few weeks ago - you guessed it, the blue board had melted. Question: Will isocyanurate board work for this?

Most of the panels use Isocyanurate with foil facings. Some times when the glazing leaks and the panels fill with fog I have seen older panels have issues with foam expanding but given they are 30 plus years old (carter adminsitration), if they work, having to replace some foam on occasion is a good investment for panels that probably have paid for themselves several times over.Comment
