Hello all.
I am looking for advice on lighting, radio & a small fan for my detached garage. It is 2 car garage.
I live in Austin and when i checked this website:- http://www.gaisma.com/en, it gave me lowest insolation number is 2.5
Currently I run long extension cable to the garage for air compressor/ lighting etc in the Garage...
What I am looking at couple of panels on Amazon (12v Renogy 100w Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module) that can charge a battery, and then I can hook up lights, radio & fan to that battery...
usage:-
6 LED lights 3 hrs a day each assumed 5W - total 90whrs
Fan - 20W, want to have to continuously On to get good air circulation (found vornado flippi V6 fan that consumes roughly 20w on high speed with oscillation) = total 480whrs
Radio - 10w 2hr - total 20whrs
Total daily load (Watt hours) 590
Total daily load (Watt hours including inverter losses, got a 400W inverter and a PWM charge controller) 590 X 2 (fudge factor) = 1180whrs
Considering my panels generate 200w for 2.5hrs i get 500whrs of energy everyday but i need 1180whrs including inverter losses...
Dividing this 1180 with 12v i get 98.3AH for total usage
The daily load i took the worst case scenario, will be lesser than what i projected...
Please let me know:-
1) if any of my calculations got busted
2) what kind of battery i should be getting (eg:- 12v 200AH i am guessing usual replacement of battery for every 5 years, so more money to put into it also, will it be more expensive going to solar than running extension chord???)
3) Do i need to add more than 2 panels ?
4) Can i run the LED's directly from panels while charging battery (pwm charge controller got a load o/p, i found 8v to 24v i/p LED's on amazon)
5) anything else that i would have missed?
Thanks a lot in advance for everyone...
Cheers,
San
