    Solar panel questionnaire

    Hello,

Am currently researching for my university degree, a report on the effects that the government cut in the solar panel feed in tariff (from 43p KWH to 21p KWH) will have on the photovoltaic industry.

I was wondering if anyone would have the time to fill in a quick questionnaire about solar panels. It wont take long and it would be a big help for my degree.

One question paper is for homeowners with solar panels fitted in their houses and the other questionnaire is for anyone who works in the industry.

If you dont mind doing it, and you either a homeowner with solar panels or work in the industry send me a PM and I'll PM you the questionnaire

    thanks

    mike

You do not need a questionnaire for that. Government should and is doing away with subsidies, and it will collapse the solar market period. History already has proven that starting back in 2008 when Germany cut their subsidies wiped out the manufactures. Today as more cuts are announced, manufactures are going bankrupt and liquidating inventory for pennies on the dollar. This will leave the investors and public holding the bag.

Sure, I'll do it. I'm not a professional installer but I've installed half a dozen systems from 250 watts to 3000 watts, both grid tie and standalone. Currently I have a 10kW (STC DC) grid tie system.

here is a copy of the questionnaire copy and pasted to this forum

This questionnaire is for anyone in the UK with solar panels fitted on their homes. If you have any spare time please fill it in, as it would be a massive help to me.

            Thanks MIke

Questionnaire for homeowners with solar panels:

Investigation into the effect the reduction in the Feed in Tariff Scheme for solar electricity generators will have on the photovoltaic industry

I would like to thank you for taking the time to fill in this questionnaire for my research paper on the above thesis.

Your answers will help me to conclude my findings.

            Any queries please contact

            Thanks Michael Davies

            Q) What is the age and type of home you own?

            Q) When did you install solar panels and how much did the installation cost?

            Q) Where did you hear about the option of solar PV installation?

            Q) Where you aware of the governments Feed in Tariff Scheme prior to instalment?

            Q) Was the decision to install solar panels weighted more by economic factors or environmental factors?

            Q) Has there been a significant change in your electricity bills?

            Q) What is the expected payback time on your solar panels?

            Q) Are you happy with your investment?

            Q) Would you still install solar panels at the new Feed in Tariff rate of 21 pence per kilowatt hour?

            Q) Would you recommend solar panel installation to friends and family?

            Q) Would the rate of the feed in tariff being halved prevent you from recommending friends and family to solar PV?

Posting your email on a public forum is a great way to attract unbeliveable amounts of spam.

                  >Q) What is the age and type of home you own?

Right now? 10 years, 2 level 4 bedroom about 3000 sq ft

                  >Q) When did you install solar panels and how much did the installation cost?

When we bought the house it had a 10kW array on it. On my previous house I installed several systems. The first was a 2.2kW fully permitted grid tie system. It cost around $12,000 total. (Did about 2/3 of the work myself.) The second was a 1.5kW experimental system that cost around $2000. It was made with all secondhand, donated and salvaged equipment.

                  >Q) Where did you hear about the option of solar PV installation?

Been working with solar since 1988.

                  >Q) Where you aware of the governments Feed in Tariff Scheme prior to instalment?

When I started there were none.

                  >Q) Was the decision to install solar panels weighted more by economic factors or environmental factors?

                  Both.

                  >Q) Has there been a significant change in your electricity bills?

Yes. Our bills are now $5 a month (service charge.)

                  >Q) What is the expected payback time on your solar panels?

                  Around here, around 25 years.

                  >Q) Are you happy with your investment?

                  Yep.

                  >Q) Would you still install solar panels at the new Feed in Tariff rate of 21 pence per kilowatt hour?

                  Not applicable.

                  >Q) Would you recommend solar panel installation to friends and family?

Depends on their situation. If they were on the grid, had good exposure and their property worked for it - yes.

                  >Q) Would the rate of the feed in tariff being halved prevent you from recommending friends and family to solar PV?[/QUOTE]

                  Not applicable.

Didnt realise this was an American forum!!

Its applicable to UK residents with solar panels

so if anyone in the UK wants to answer the questions that would be appreciated

thank for filling it in though mate
