does it plug in via an adaptor like a phone charging wart that then plugs into the camera? or is the plug hard wired to the camera with no way to disconnect

Those cameras that come with the Lorex 2932 system use the charging wart with a female end that plugs into the camera for power. The video signal is sent wireless to a little tv screen.

He would have to make up a pigtail with the same female plug on one end wired to a battery on the other and then use a solar panel and charger connected to the battery.

Unless the OP is good at hiding things someone will see the solar panel and battery charging station and maybe even the camera. Nice idea but might be easier to just run the 12volt supply underground like they do with those low voltage walk way lights.

Naptown, I'm not sure because I haven't purchased it yet and none of the pictures on the listing shows the part where the cord/plug is. I'm still in the research phase. Here's the link to the system on amazon:

It's a Lorex system, model LW2932. Comes with two cameras.

I found where I wrote down what the Lorex employee told me about the power consumption of this system. As you can no doubt guess, this doesn't mean a lot to me because I'm not knowledgeable about electrical stuff.

He said that 1 camera would use 460 mega amps ?? Then he went on to say that the monitor + all 4 cameras, at night (using night vision) would take 1050 mega amps (don't remember if that's for 1 hour or one day at this point. Might have to call them again). For myself, at least for now, I would only have 2 cameras running (hopefully on solar) and the monitor would be in the house running on regular power. I looked it up and my area averages (year round average) about 4 hours of sunlight per day.

PS: The person brought their dog and left some more goodies sometime this morning. I want cameras set up. I just don't have time to stand by the windows and watch for these jerks. I believe the system I'm looking at sounds a warning via the monitor when it detects motion, so I could just go about my business around the house until it warned me of somebody approaching.

Problem is going to be a 9 VDC supply for the camera. IMHO not worth the effort to try to run on solar.

the manufacturer has a pretty good website and seems they have a way of asking questions.
Best thing to do is check with them on the power requirements of the cameras and go from there.

Ok, I had never seen those components before. The amazon listing doesn't have them.

Just for simplicity's sake, forget about power requirements for now. I'm simply looking to find out of the setup will work or not.

Will this work: Get the cameras and that charger. Find an adapter that will plug into the camera (that "female" end thing) and the other piece of the adapter that plugs into the charger (the USB end). That way there is no extra stuff to deal with; just the camera & the charger connected by an adapter. That's what I wanted in the first place, but couldn't find an adapter.

One of the pictures in the amazon listing for the charger shows lots of adapters. One of them shows the female end and the usb end (not sure if all "female" things like that are the same?)

This one, however, is 5V, not 9V. When I did a search on amazon, there were NO 9v ones. Just the 5V. Couldn't find any by googling either. My search words were:

male barrel connector adapter usb 9v

Could be the wrong search words (since I'm not educated on what most of these things are called)?
