Took the naceb entry level test today

10 of us in a class and we all had no electrical backround. 3 Month intense solar course. Spent 9 weeks on microsoft word, excel, math and basic math, the solar instructor came in 2 weeks ago to teach us solar and prep us for the NABCEP test. The practice test he gave us as a study guide for the NABCEP had 107 questions on it and there was only bout 8 of them that was on that NABCEP. Everything i learned in this course was not on that test today. 3 hours a day on studying and reading the book and still was not good enough. Can anyone tell me the RIGHT book to get so i can pass this test for next time???? Now i feel like if i apply for a job an employer will ask "you had a 250hr course and didnt pass?" doesnt look good people. Any suggestions out there on this? ( i do have the knowledge to hook up a solar system, and understand NABCEP is not required for the job but im still determined to pass this test)

The purpose of class, is to prepare you for test. None of the "practice" questions should have been on the real test, The test is to see if you can figure it out from the knowledge you obtained, not an "list of answers to put on the test.

If the class did not prepare many of the students, then file for a refund against the school, if they are still in business.

There are lots of rip-off artists out there.

The basic math, Excel and Word should not be part of any course like this - that is a separate thing. I would file a suit against the clowns.

I understand what your saying and I wish it did prepare me for the test, even the smartest person in the class who understood all the theory behind what the instructor teached us was caught off guard with the test. we all studied enough to know that the practice would not be on the test but we understood what we studied. the practice test and the NAPCEP were no where related. We just had the wrong book and the wrong book and wrong instructor

Wow...apparently. I took a two weekend course (Friday/Sat/Sun.....6 days total) at Appalachian State in Boone, NC couple years back, and the test was a breeze I thought.

Theres sea bass, striperbass, i guess i would be a dumbass then lol . I could never imagine of only 6 days of training for that test! Thats the best way i can put it coming from a fisherman like myself!

Didnt realize i spelled it that until after i submitted it, was on the wonderful I PAD when i first posted this. Not too good with the touch screen. Thanks for the correction. Everyone else knew what test i was talking about lol next time i misplel somethign i gto you oto cont on ... there ya go that will keep ya busy!

Don't make excuses you even edited your post after I corrected you. It had NACEP not NABCEP. NABCEP test is an extremely critical test. With math criteria, and logical wording expressing engineering terms. I'm not doing this to harass you, I'm doing this to get you to understand it is not an easy test.
My brother that graduated from USF "University San Francisco" failed this test the first time around. I helped him study the crunch course, both the first time and second time. If you fail the test it is costly as you have to pay to retake the test, and sometimes the window of opportunity for this test only comes around once every six months of the year. The NABCEP is like comparing a law student that goes in to take the BAR examination; NCBEX (National Confrence of Bar EXaminers), the average person will not pass it the first time around. After my brother paid for the test a second time and passed he received a nice certificate of achievement as well as a $12 shirt that says NABCEP certified.
I'm just letting you know the grammatical error that you use even here should be evident enough that your not dedicated enough or focused enough on the entry examination, its not meant to be taken lightly and its expensive.

Well i get my results in 4 to 6 weeks. If i did fail i will take it again. I never give up. I like to finish what i start. I am very dedicated and was very focused on that test. Your right, it is not an easy test. Thanks to the couple of replies on here i can use the links they shared with me to help me pass it next time around. I know you were not trying to harass me, I was just adding a little humor to my last replies. Hope you can loosen up for at least the holidays. Happy New year everybody!

I'm pretty sure the OP is referring to the entry level exam, not the full on certification exam. There is a difference. I wonder if the OP has received test results yet?
