I live in NYC and do possess a Renogy 50 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Panel that I am using to charge a KYNG portable power station 540w (SGR-PPS500). The KYNG is at 47% and I've placed the solar panel by the living room window at my apartment. The KYNG does turn on as it detects charge coming from the panel but for the few hours of sunlight it seems to be stuck at 47% charge. Are there any suggestions or just wait for spring. Thanks.

Window glass can impair the performance of solar panels. Can you open the window? If not, perhaps take the system outside so it gets direct sun.
Might be useful to confirm the KYNG can be charged from the supplied AC adapter, and get a feel for how long it takes to see the charge increase from 47 to 48 and 49%. It will be different when charging from solar, but it will give you some sense how it works.
Also confirm that the solar panel is outputting useful power. Have you used it power anything else--even an incandescent light bulb?

IF you really understand what the sun provides to allow a pv panel to generate electricity and charge a battery you would then do whatever is necessary.
As Srrndhound says above you would realize that a window or anything that blocks the protons in the suns rays you would move the panel outside.Comment

I wouldn't know how to connect a light bulb to the panel but I tried my multimeter instead. If I'm reading this correct then I think it's giving out about 36 Volts DC. I did it yesterday which was pretty sunny but in the end the battery is now at 45%. IMG-0347.jpgComment

And depending on you loads the battery can be quickly discharged.Comment

The batery seems to be idle. It has 3 options for loads (usb, dc and ac) and none are in use. And it's cloudy today.Comment
