no room for Line-Tap?

My engineering plans and electrical permit specify a line-side tap, but the electrician who was scheduled to complete the final wiring has informed me that there is no available space in my 200-amp panel to accommodate the tap. The plans call for a Square D B-Tap model D223NRB.

Are there any alternatives to replacing the entire panel? I have attached a photo of the panel where the line-side tap was originally intended to be installed.

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My line side tap does not go into the main breaker panel, it is done outside at the additional box provided by poco at the meter location.

You have a couple options.
1) upgrade the box but locate it higher to accommodate more wire to tap into.
2) install a tapbox between the line and where the line comes into your existing box where you can tap and then continue to existing box. Simply a j-box between feed and existing box.

im In florida and I’ve never seen specified model taps on engineering. It’s other a line or load, they don’t tell us what model of tap to use. A tap is a tap. Polaris, ilsco, burndy, or otherwise. I’m unsure of your requirements but both of these are an easy fix.
