I know it can be run in direct sunlight on the roof and may be rated for wet conditions but not sure about direct burial.

If it is it may need to go down 18 inches to meet NEC but then again I am guessing.

Yes, some you can direct bury.

No obvious wiring on these 5 acres, lots of buried wire. The general standard
has been 18 inches deep in conduit, 24 inches for direct burial. My trencher
can do either, of course it all comes up out of the ground in conduit. I see
conduit as allowing changes in the run, direct burial is a one time setup.

None of my DC PV wiring is direct buried yet, but it might be. Bruce Roe

I agree, for me I would rather use a conduit to have the extra flexibility and protection.
