Thanks for the reply. So I am inclined to go the string inverter route and want somewhere between a 10-12KW system. Don't think I need half cut panels unless you all think otherwise. I've read good things about Froinius inverters but they are hard to get into the US? Can anyone recommend a good inverter that can handle the above system? For 10KW - 8KW inverter would work?

I posted a study that seemed to prove that even with a fair amount of shading a string inverter still compared fairly well to a micro. The flip side is the enphase micro inverters have seemed to be many times more reliable than original estimates forecasted and much more reliable than the simpler solar edge optimizers.

I have had 3 APS rapid shutdown units fail, 1 burned up, 2 were blistering. I had had some Tigo rapid shutdown units burn up. Has anyone had failures like this in rapid shutdown units. They can't blame the connectors as the modules had MC-4s.
