Project Solar - DIY - Has anyone used them? Thoughts?

    Hello Everyone!

I am new to solar and have been looking into different options for installing solar at my home. Does anyone have any experience working with Project Solar? I am a big DIYer and enjoy doing things like this myself, so I feel like purchasing my system through them would be great while saving some money.

Would love to hear any opinions or recommendations from you guys. Thank you in advance!

Before you do anything, buy a copy of Solar Power Your Home for Dummies or search around the web for an older edition. Read it and understand it and then ask questions until you fully understand it. Once you know the basics we can help you but going in it blind is a recipe for no getting what you want. Its a slick website but there may be better options. There are other firms that will sell you a kit. Microinverters makes things simple but you pay a premium.

It would help if we knew where you are located. If you havent looked at this site its worth seeing what incentives you may have https://www.dsireusa.org/

John, The plan here a decade or so ago was to start by increasing efficiency (but
not decreasing creature comforts) by eliminating as much waste as possible
(probably went a bit beyond practical here). Using a KILL-A WATT I managed
to track down a hundred (not an exaggeration) small items and mostly remedy
or replace them, cutting electric use some 2000 KWH a year. This gave me a
very good appreciation of just where the energy was going.

In time all the bad players got replaced with Energy Star versions, or revamped.
Finally the HVAC was redone to use super efficient mini-split heat pumps for
AC and heating, giving the house and another building a zero carbon footprint.
