Looking for guidance on a solar system in NJ

Have read several threads in particular the ones that are associated with NJ. Also read the dummies book also. Now getting to the part about finding an installer. I'm currently looking to add solar to my roof as a result of me needing a new roof. Signed up on energysage and only got 3 quotes from there. Most are offering the LG panels along with either the emphase or SE inverters. I'm looking to go towards GPE as they have a solid bumper to bumper. However, I'm located in north jersey, in particular jersey city. Not many solar installed up here and I'm apprehensive with the whole process. I've gotten several quotes mainly in the mid 2's upwards of low 3's on PPW. My system isn't that large - right below the 8kw.

price is important to me. But reliability is another along with experience. I haven't seen much solar installs up around where I am on residential. SHould I focus on an installer that is experienced up where I am? Or should any reliable one be able to do the job?

Yes I have. They don’t come close to a what gpe offered to me. Not sure if it’s the area I live in. Most are over 50 miles away from me.

I went with Momentum Solar. No regrets yet.

Don't put so much emphasis on warranties and look for a respected local installer. A warranty is never as valuable as choosing a good installer. If they have been around a long time they will have no incentive to take shortcuts or install low quality components that will reflect poorly on them.

up where I am is more "city" like vs other parts of the state. I haven't seen really anyone up by me that has solar installed on the roof. Wasn't sure if it was a code issue or just lack of interest. With that being said, finding a local installer, so to speak ,poses a challenge. If an install is an install, GPE is within a 30 mile radius to me in the event something goes wrong. I am also fielding other installers. Just trying to find one that installs well and has done jobs in my area.
