maybe the original poster has obtained the controller and can tell you how it's working and what cost was.
I'm pretty leery of super cheap stuff from china, as some is not even engineered, just parts put together and sold.Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||

mppt
Hello selbbit,
I just got my SL-40 mppt solar charge controller in the other day and didn't do anything yet except read the book and take the cover off and look inside.
This one has an input of 55 volts dc in and is 40 amp and it looks like it will take up to 40 amps from the solar panels. It also has a safety feature that if their is too much voltage or amp from the pv sys, it will shut down for a certain time. Then start back up. It also has a battery temp sensor, and a jack to plug in your computer. and alot of other stuff that it dose, and it also has settings for eq, your batteries when needed. And it is mppt, because it dose change the high voltage into amps while lowering the voltage. Some people on this board say it is not a mppt, because its made over china.
I cant waite to get my panels mounted so I could try it out.
