solar panel roofing business

hi. im new here and i need some help. im interested in turning my roofing business into a solar roofing business. im in NY. does anyone know what type of schooling is required or available? where do i find classes? are there any license requirements or certificates i need to install solar panels? i pretty much need to know how to go about starting this up. any info is greatly appreciated.
also, to any installers out there, how is the solar business in general?

Most solar businesses are roofing contractors or electrical contractors. You will need 3 things:

• A sub-contract with a Electrical Contractor to do all the electrical work.
• Retainer with an engineering design firm to create design specs and stamp any electrical or structural drawings required by the AHJ.
• You will need a General Contractor License to pull permits and schedule inspections.

The best way to get information is to search online about it and you will get lot of information about it in setials and some more detailed knowledge. Read forums on it.

Its a good fit to hook up with an electrical contractor as they usually dont want to mess with roofs. Just realize that the market is quite competitive and that tends to drive the profits down.
