mirrors Plus panel systems?

Just ran across this photo looks like the mirrors add a bit more energy to the panels.
I've also heard that white snow kicks up power levels too.

Also saw that 3M makes a cheap mylar like substance that reflects a LOT of light

I am getting pricing information on it.

I dont' want TOO much light or it will heat up the array too much, but maybe some white plastic cardboard coated with this mirror would boost levels in North Carolina?

Looks bogus to me unless it has 2-axis tracking. Even if it does would cause excessive heating lowering power. If no tracking then you have one panel shaded out in the morning hours, and the other in the afternoon.

All sorts of people that don't understand what they are into have many strange ideas that they publish. You notice any supporting data for the thing shown?

There are parabolic collectors that concentrate the sun and are water cooled. The water cooling is a requirement. The people above seem to just be trying to cut a corner.

There are many several reflective films that are used on homemade type parabolic reflectors (water heaters) as mirrors are too expensive to play with.

Snow has limited amount of reflection and it is very diffuse. It also happens to be around when heat is a bit less of a problem.

is the web site. looks legit to me and they certainly have a lot of photos of systems working with some huge mirrors!

I'm a bit rusty on my high school physics, but if a mirror reflects light in 180 degrees from it's flat surface and the mirror is angled towards the mirror at 45 degrees, than you are only gettting a 25% increase of light on the panel minus a few percentage for transmission losses.

Doesn't really sound like it would heat the panel up that extremely. It's not like you are doubling the light falling on the PV panel?
