    In reality, it's not the $10 minimum the solar companies are worried about, but the slippery slope that the fee will continue to increase.
    In many areas $10 is about norm but no listed as min bill. It just works out that way in static fees, meter reading / rental fees, etc. $10 is pretty fair and reasonable but like you say, it is the concern that they will increase beyond that as some areas have done.

    In reality, it's not the $10 minimum the solar companies are worried about, but the slippery slope that the fee will continue to increase.
    And, unlike the imagined slippery slope that gun owners are worried about, the big power companies do have the power to continue to raise the minimum price.

    I purchased my panels knowing that the minimum charge would cover about 60 kwh each month and sized the system smaller accordingly.

    Here's the math. PG&E ( here in NorCal ) will charge you $10 a month if the electrical consumption doesn't reach that level. At current levels, that's about 60 kwh.

    So there is no reason to reach the zero number ( break even between production and consumption ), in fact the zero number with the minimum charge becomes consumption - 60 kwh = production.
