Clearly you were wise enough to plan ahead, a little telling about my character though isn't it? But weather I wasn't smart enough then, I am not unhappy about my life now cause learning is always at our disposal. Even if we do not put our learning to action because time was our enemy it is nontheless good for a cause. Which is why the smartest thing to do now [for me] is to get the younger generation alerted or excited about solar energy so they can do as you did and fill the world with something positive. I didn't have that help from my parents nor did I learn it anywhere else untill not to long ago on the net. I am 45 now, so for me to save for an amount such as that it is to late, but not for the younger generation.

I had a change of heart about going solar because I had an eye opening debate with someone and he won! LOL!!
I wouldn't leave it altogether though, only use is it for charging up battery operated tools or to light up a shed or if I am going camping. I think solar panels are cool to have but not to run an entire house, it's not worth the money! -
Conserving money by "bits here and there" works. And with Obama care, we'll all have another 20 yers before we can retire.
Conservation, $'s invested in not using the energy, is paid back 10x by not needing to generate the power (heating or light)Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||
