how many batteries can be tied in paralle? I heard three,is this correct? also what is the max time that i can add a new battery to a bank. I heard six months, is this right. I have little project with two batteries and would like to add one more,to a 150 watt array

Well you are hearing all kind of BS mixed with Half Truths.
There is no limit to how many battery banks you can operate in parallel. The trick is to use a common copper buss bar to inter-connect them with so as too keep the cables at approximately the same length. But there is a twist. You want to use as large as cells as needed to keep to 1 or 2 strings.
As for mixing new and old batteries there is some truth. You would never want to replace a single battery in a series string, but replacing a whole bank is OK.MSEE, PE -

I suggest a solid copper buss bar. one quarter inch thick, minamum one and 3/4 inch tall by 10 inches wide. have as many holes as you need.
this is what I had to do because of money reasons. bought my first set of batteries. had to wait three months to get my second set of batteries.
set = 2 six volt batteries. so far no problems with the batteries. both sets over nine months old.
I agree with replacing all the batteries at one time. I have saved up money just for that purpose.Comment
