I also pay a fuel charge between $0.04 and $0.05/kWh, plus $8.76/mth meter charge, plus $7.48/mth surge suppression equipment charge, plus ~ $28/mth taxes.
It comes down to about $0.12/kWh for the electric usage & fuel, but about $0.15/kWh for my total bill with an average monthly bill (for the last couple of years) around $210/month.
So what am I really paying for electricity usage? $0.075/kWh, $0.12/kWh or $0.15/kWh. It is still low compared to others.Comment

And I pay $0.07/kWh for my first 1000kWh and $0.0836/kWh for anything above that 1000kWh per month.

My total is about .45 per KWH when all is added.

Yeah my lower cost is what has stopped me from going solar even though I want to. It is just not financially viable today and may not be before I sell my current home.
At least I have a plan to have solar on my retirement home (whenever that happens)Comment

Wow $0.45/kWh. Ouch.

my net metering should cover the cost of the gas that I use for cooking. I will use about 700-800 Average and produce over 12K KWH during the year averages over 1000 per month.
So that is a plus for me. Once I upgrade my boiler to gas it will help pay for some of the heating costs in gas.Comment

At least I have a plan to have solar on my retirement home (whenever that happens)That is why I am doing solar, I want a bill that will not change for 20 years. $207 lease fixed while Con Edison drives the costs higher and higher I won't have to worry much.

So my bill will be about $250 monthly. Still a good thing I don't have a crazy fluctuating bill.Comment

First off that $402.29 bill was for two months 9/18/13 to 11/18/13.
The $267.91 was calculated at $0.15/kWh for 1786 kWh of "Elec Use".
The $134.38 was calculated at $0.075/kWh for 1786 kWh for "Elec Demand".
If you total those you paid about $0.225/kWh for 1786 kWh or about $402.
Back in 5/13 they were charging you a single rate of $0.275/kWh where you used 800 kWh and got billed for $219.66.
It looks like now they are now charging you about $0.27/kWh only they split it into two areas. Usage and Demand.
I am not saying that isn't a high electric rate. I am saying that all POCO's have different ways to charge people which can be simple or confusing.
My usage is 8.9 Cents fixed all other charges are from Con Edison.Comment
