Good news, bad news.
Bad news is that there won't be an inspection today.
Good news is that it's not the installers fault and all the items were fixed.
After everything was done, I called the inspector to see what time they would be here and she said they are backed up and won't be able to make it out today and it'll have to be on Monday. She said to call her Monday morning at 7am and we'll be a priority on the list. Also said neither the installer nor myself have to be here.
She seemed to have no idea who I was, so my assumption that it got changed to her doing the inspection because she got wind of it and wanted to personally do it doesn't seem to be correct. I kind of reminded her a bit about the job and she was like "Oooh yeah, that was quite a while ago wasn't it?"
So I guess Monday now.
Some pics of what was fixed...
Ground lug inside the AC disconnect
Ground bushing inside the DC disconnect
Rivets for the two labels

Oh yeah...how could I forget to also add that the installer did not freaking specify the PV meter socket model on the revised permit. Damn it.
The inspector said to either add it to the permit, or get a letter from the permit designer with the info. I got an email from them a couple weeks ago so hopefully that'll satisfy.

Good lord how is this guy even doing work on people's homes???
So I already had the intention to redo all the plugs that he put together since I found two that were loose...never thought that every single plug he did would be garbage though!
Check this out...this was a "crimped" connection. Freaking wire looks freshly cut and like it's never been crimped ever.
And this is the piece inside the connector that he crimped using pliers...
Using the $40 tool I got on Amazon, THIS is how it's supposed to be crimped...

Seems like the ones I saw before had a pretty wide gap between parts. Bruce RoeComment

I'm sorry you didn't quite cross the finish line today. I'm glad you scraped that paint off finally - that was my single tip for you in this entire episode, about a month ago.Comment

We've been over this territory. I didn't intend to rub your nose in it - but to say, how can he stay in business with shoddy work like this?

Hopefully Monday this will all get wrapped up, it's so very close.Comment

The MC4 connectors I got on Amazon are also nice, the plastic nut screws on flush with the connector body for a good fit.Comment

I'am not trying to poke or take enjoyment only not everyone wants to or are even capable of taking over and redoing all the work you have. I for one would not or could not. I made it very clear to the company I hired things would go as spelled out in the contract
or legal action would sue in a heart beat. I take my hat off to you for the work you have done and your understanding of what was involved since I believe few could or want to. Your case is far from the norm that I have seen.Comment
