Thanks for all the good feedback , found lease and it says "Lessor shall bear the risk of loss , damage , theft, destruction or similar occurrence of any prt or all of the System during the time the system is either installed on your premise or is being installed on or removed from your premise, except in the event that you intentionally damage or destroy the system intentionally or through your negligence, in which case you will be eld responsible for the cost of such damage or loss to the system."
The Lessor is Sunpower, so I placed a call to them and kindly asked the question. After being put on hold briefly the customer rep said , "oh this is a lease, so we sun power will be responsible if need for replacement of fixing due to squirrel raccoon or pigeons eating the wires of the panels." So I guess the dealer is trying to make some extra $$$? or just never dealt with it . I did not call the dealer to make them aware of it because its not a problem for me. In future if it came to that then I would make them aware of it . FYI_ Friends pigeon problem , company said $1300 to install the critter guard, he has 33 panels in two different arrays , we both thought that was ridiculous pricing !!!!

OK. The information provided by Ian and ajpslp indicate that the Lessor is responsible for repairing the damaged wire eaten by critters.

I guess it is more important to the Lessor to repair a broken system then have it down and not working. Probably something in the contract that states the Lessee doesn't have to pay if the system is not generating due to component failure regardless of what made it fail.

The company that installed my solar panels has been doing for 12 years and has never put squirrel guard on an array. During my research about installing solar panels I read about squirrels eating the wires and bird nest, so I requested bird and squirrel guard. I was quoted $200 for a 30 panel array in one rectangle. He was not happy when he started installing. it took two guys two thirds of a day. he told me if anybody else wants squirrel guard it's at least $1000. But they have since brought back another customer who has a bird problem to see the squirrel guard installed on mine and he opted to get it installed on his also.

In winter I put some electric fence equipment around the wiring, to keep the deer from chewing
on it. Likely the 400 VDC would kill them, and I don't want to be hauling away the bodies. Bruce Roe
