    Sunny Beam Graph Problems

Over the past several months the Sunny Beam Graph for Last 31 Days shows bars that spikes the chart. Out of 31 days, only 17 days show correct values.

Basically it isn't displaying the actual day yield. I've noticed that in the CSV file for those days, the values are close to Inverter Total (E-Total) and not the Today yield (E-Today). Hence the graph is spiked on those days.

I also do not see any triggered events that might cause comm issues with data being transferred. Connection is at 80%.

Yesterday I updated to firmware 1.02.0.R. But their release notes make no reference to fixing this issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so have you been able to resolve it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Greg

I have been using the Sunny Beam for about 1 year without any issues like what you describe. When you initially set it up did you put in the correct price per Khw?

Also you could check with SMA tech support. Had to use them once and they were extremely helpful.

      Hi Bob,

Thanks for the feedback. I've had the unit for just under a year with no issues on graphing. For some reason over the past 2 months, days are not displaying the correct yield. The unit is set up correctly, it's just that the data being saved is incorrect more than 50% of the time.

My next step is to contact SMA, but thought to ask around first before troubling tech support.

It is, I suppose, possible that if the network connection is really bad the unit may be seeing the polls from the server as requests for total production instead of daily production.
See whether anything has changed about the network connectivity. That is particularly likely to be a problem if you also see delays in the data showing up in the first place.

As I said they have a great tech support. I guess the only other thing you could try is re-set everything. I know its a pain, but it could work. BTW, you did download the latest firmware so you know that's not the issue. Let me know how you make out. I really do not rely to much on the graph. I made my own Excel spreadsheet and keep track of my daily production and then run it against my bill from PSE&G with some formulas that keep track of everything each month.

Doing my own tracking and graphing is what I was going to do, but the saved data files on the Sunny Beam are incorrect for the daily yield. hence the graphing problem. So I'm left to manually calculate the daily yield based on yesterday's total less today's total.

Very odd bug since all other data in the file seam to be correct.

There have been no saved events which would show issues with communication. It's a wireless Bluetooth setup and the Sunny Bean shows 80% wireless strength.

I also do not see any issues during the day with the daily chart showing productivity.

              Very odd.

Sounds like inetdog could be right that it is a network issue, but if your getting 80% it should be good. Any chance there is some Bluetooth interference from something else in your house or your neighbors house?

Also, I found the easiest way entering production on a spreadsheet is to use the "Power Yesterday" view and simply enter that production for yesterday.

Interference from neighbor is doubtful, and no other devices are set up with Bluetooth in my house that are on 24/7. And now for the past 3 days, there's no bar being displayed in the graph.

Time to reset everything to see if this resolves the issue, otherwise time for tech support.
