    Trina Solar Panels any good?

    Hi,

My local dealer in bay area got a couple quotes and they recommended Trina TSM-PA05 (250 watt panels). Are they any good? I read they are one of the most popular and top tier for Chinese panels but I noticed in CSI database that Solar City is a big installer that uses them a lot. They are installed down in South CA but not so much up here in Northern CA. I also have options to go with BenQ or LG panels as well. I would like Sunpower but they are out of my price point.

    Thanks.

Did you find any data on these? I am in the same boat here in Bay Area.

Also, are the REC panels any good? Cannot find much data about them online?

    Thanks

If you are in the Bay Area, I would highly recommend BSandBaloney solar.com I am going with them on a LG system, I was torn between going w/a cheaper alternative or Sunpower but found out LG was a good middle point between all those Chinese brands and Sunpower. It also all comes down to how you plan on financing it or cash purchase. I was leaning towards Sunpower because of the quality since I was going with cash purchase but realized LG is from a respectable company and had good testing results as well. Anyways, please make sure to let them know George referred you. =)

FWIW - we were going to go with Trina TSM-T05 240w (polycrystalline) panels but they were too blue and the panels had a lot of color variation (from blue to black) when mounted on the roof. (The solar company suggested going ahead with the install and they would replace if we didn't like them). We ended up swapping slight upgrade in cost) them with BenQ Green Triplex 260W panels (monocrystalline). Just went live last week. They all (26 panels) look very uniform in color and we are very happy with the performance. BenQ has a partnership with SunPower and share a factory.
