    AUO/BenQ vs Sunpower

So unfortunately, the search field doesn't allow me to search just for AUO and BenQ didn't turn up many posts. So I am curious since I was thrown a nut to digest. Over the past few months I have been heavily researching solar panels and installers in our area. I had shelved the idea for a while now but with a hefty tax refund and some liquidity in some assets we are able to buy out the system we need. I had been sure we would use Sunpower and am fielding final bids now but another company asked if we would care for a similar efficiency panel by AUO/BenQ at a much lower cost. Before I go too deep down that road I would like to know if anyone has experience with the AUO/BenQ panel. Please correct my facts if they are wrong

    AUO/BenQ:
    Production Warranty:10yr 90%, 25 yr 80%
    Panel warranty: 10yrs

Sunpower: (looking at both E20 and X21 panels, approx same price)
    Production Warranty: 95% 5yr, neg .4%/yr till 25 (87% @ 25yr)

Now without going into all of the "will they be around" or not issues, what else about these panels is relevant to making a decision. We're talking possibly a 30% discount on using AUO/BenQ. Will have formal proposal tomorrow.

    24 X21-345 panels for $41k ($1k less for E20-327) before rebates/credits
    24 AUO/BenQ 327W panels for $30k before rebates/credits

Well I can tell you the cells of both are made in the same factory which is a joint venture between Sunpower and Auo. Different technology but share factory space.

Just compared the two datasheets between the E20-327 and the equivalent AUO panel. Same specs except for tolerance. could be the same structure as chips manufacturers. Grade A goes to the customer (Sunpower) where the lower performing ones they'll use in house for their own brand. Could be why 1) their price is lower, 2) less warranty coverage

Hope to get more information. The other thing I was looking into was how many people have issues with their panels beyond the warranty date. From what I've found, most do not have issues... am I just not finding the right sites/etc?

Got a quote for the AUO/BenQ system. To match the power output, they had to use more panels. Cost came out a little higher than my first Sunpower quote. The only benefit I see going with the AUO system is the 20 yr free panel/inverter replacement. There's a slight built in value in that.

FYI: AUO would be installed through SolarCity.
