Upgrade to inverter and possible battery backup

There are a 2 separate issues I want to tackle.

First. I have a SolarEdge 11400A-USR00NNU2 (11.4kWh) and I want to upgrade the inverter with one that has a EV charger installed, I'm pretty sure they make one at the 11.4 level so it would be a direct replacement. Since many of the new Solaredge inverters are smart, not sure if the new Solaredge inverter would require the removal of the optimizers but if so not a issue, no cost to that.

Second. Sometime in the near future I want to setup a AC coupled system, this seems to be the simplest and cheapest way to go. Either with the current inverter listed above or one of the newer inverters that can support EV charging.

So my question would be what is a good Hybrid inverter that I can use on the "battery side". I'm pretty sure I will need a inverter that is at a minimum 12k to match up with my current system (match up, meaning from what I understand they have to be same size or bigger). I had planned to by 2 100amp 48v batteries from SOK, Trophy or LFpro, they are 5.1kWh each which would equal the 10kWh or I can even go to 3 batteries especially since prices are dropping. I am using Sungold as an example because its inexpensive, I have seen the setup I want to use but they used a Sneider and I would need a large one or 2 and they aren't cheap.

I had planned to set it up as a manual switch over, I'm not looking to run the house in the evening on batteries this is strictly as a battery backup and I want to be able to utilize my PV when grid is down during the day.

I am looking to go inexpensive since its only for battery backup and utilize PV when power is out.

    - what is a good inverter to use as the second battery side?
    - if its easier to just replace the solaredge with a hybrid what would be a good choice and would I need a second inverter at that point?

Majority of the time I'm selling back to the Grid, my bills are only $7.50 a month, its just the wife and I, September I usually pay $150.00 because the summer months eat up my credit from the rest of the year, air conditioner at night...LOL.

Yes, SolarEdge has an integrated inverter/charger. The datasheet (attached) shows a maximum of 7600 VA, smaller than the 11400 VA of your current inverter.

If you are interested in minimizing cost, it would seem cheaper to add their charger to your existing inverter than buying the combo unit, but I have not done the math. Maybe going with the newer combo unit adds some years to the system life and would be worth it.

    Optimizers are not a factor.

The mySolarEdge app on your phone can set the Backup Reserve to as high as 100%, which would prevent any discharge of the battery until grid failure. No need to manually control that.

Sorry about the "unapproved" message, that just means the software flagged your message as possible spam and sent it to moderation. We'll usually approve those pretty quickly. Here's the link you posted if it helps: https://www.solaredge.com/us/products/ev-charger

        Thanks for the note.

I just removed the embedded hyperlinks and attached the document in the post -- that solved it.

Would there be a point in time or post count where I could join the "known traveler " program and be able to bypass the approval process?

I don't think so, it seems to treat all users the same. We've never quite figured out how the algorithm works

Solis has its 5G inverters that are designed for use with battery banks. Check the specs as to which batteries are approved for use with a specific inverter. Solis makes the generators and unlike SunPower and others does not simply rebadge inverters made by SunnyBoy and others.

The trick I am finding is having an installer work on a system that their company did not do the original installation. Most of the companies in my area refuse to touch a system they did not install.
