I continue with my reading, but lost interest in specifically trying to get MI tested and confirming panel performance. Switching gears a bit and looking into installing geothermal heat pump (WSHP) this summer before installing new PV array to support. Hope all is well.
    Thank you for the update.
    Stay curious.
    It'll help keep you young.
Losing it will be a game changer.

Update - water source heat pump went in last year and after 11 months of operation, we have reduced electrical consumption by about 3,000 kWh (compared to last year) and after factoring the cost of considerably less propane, we are saving about $800 to $900 a year in utility costs. I am also not burning as much wood this year. Lower utilities can also be attributed to a LOT of new LED, better controls on the HVAC and a much better setup on the humidifier - this one humidifier change has probably dropped our energy usage by about 500 kWh annually.

Now that we have electrical usage leveling out at a reasonably lower level, I think we are going to put in PV this summer - thinking about DIY. Wish me luck!

On the SunPower side, I think I have convinced myself that peak output is lower than original with the replacement MI because the new MI probably have a slightly lower output (that DC to AC size ratio / clipping thing). It's too hard to quantify with different amounts of sun each year, plus we lost two trees (less shading which is good). Not to mention the whole SunPower bankruptcy issue. I am moving on to bigger and better things, but have learned a lot and ready to stretch myself a bit. I appreciate your help along the way
