Solar Panel Cleaning

What are the best methods/products to clean pv panels with? Do the mounted spray systems work well? I am from Barrie, Ontario, Canada and our panels are extremely dirty.

A hose with a sprayer.

I wash mine in the morning, before they heat up from the sun, and just use a garden hose and spray nozzle.

ive heard of commerical systems using reverse osmosis filtered water just so the minerals are not left on the panel over the lifetime

A garden hose, and a Mr. Clean Car Wash DI rinse water cartridge.

If you have tree sap and goo on it, you will have to figure something out for soap that will not eat the edge sealing.

Ivory or Dove liquid dish washing soap are about the most PH neutral wetting agents you can buy. Or baby shampoo.

If you cannot put it in your eyes, don't use it.

yeah, i think just plain old water and elbow grease is the way to go, nothing abrasive or chemical based for too many reasons to mentin.

I have also heard of those, I have been researching that and the reviews for them have been good. Only problem is I live in Canada and the pipes will defiantly freeze and burst, there has not been any cleaning systems made for Canadian weather.

How? Any water that does not leave spots on windows is just as good as RO water for this purpose.

Mr Clean Car Wash kit, with DI rinse cartrige. <amazon>

Wash and rinse with tap water, then the final rinse use DI water, just like the spot-free car washes. no chemicals, just ultra pure water. I use it for 2nd floor window washing too.

Unhook from hose, drain and put away.
