    SMA Error Code 6803

I have an SMA Sunny Boy SB6.0-1US-40 (Actually I have two of them now)

This past weekend, I added a second inverter and a new string of panels. I also transferred over a string from the 1st inverter to the new (identical) inverter.

Now the first inverter is throwing an error code 6803. Its making power just fine, but it isn't happy. When I looked up the code, it basically telling me that STRING A is missing. Well Duh, I transferred STRING A to the 2nd inverter.

How do I clear the code? The SMA manual is of no help.

I tried logging into the inverters setup menu and turning off the string monitoring option.. ON/OFF and it was on so I turned it off.. but the inverter is still throwing the code.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I did a Google search on SMA 6803 and found this: "Check whether a string is connected to input A. If a string that once was connected is not used anymore, the string-failure detection must be reset."

Here is what I found for string failure detection. This may get you in the right area.

    Activating String-Failure Detection:

Activate the user interface ( > Establishing a connection to the user interface).
Log into the user interface as an Installer.
On the right-hand side of the menu bar, select the menu User Settings ( > Start Page Design of the User Interface).
In the context menu, select [Starting the installation assistant].
Select [Save and next] until you reach the String configuration step.
Activate string-failure detection and configure it as required.

I found all that via a google search as well.. Tried the installation assistant as well as under the "Device parameters" tab, under DC SIDE, there is a string detection menu (See picture)

Tried resetting it there as well. Tried turning it off and on, tried resetting operational data, and tried different combinations (ordering), still throws the code.

      What the hell SMA?

I'm wondering if this has something to do with string ordering. A must be used before B and B must be used before C. Since I disconnected A and only using B and C inputs, the inverter is having a hissy fit.

Then I'd try moving C to A and reset.

There is a parameter down in the operations menu called something like " .... inhibition reset" that will remove any error messages.
Might have to call SMA tech support though....

            Winner!
Under "Device Parameters" tab then >>Device >>Operation >>Reset Operating Data >>Dropdown menu to "Reset Events"

Error message gone! My inverter is happy again.

            Thank you Solarix!
