6-V battery charging with solar panels...

Hello!

I need to charge 6-v battery. Is it poissible to use solar panels for charging 6-v battery? Are there solar contollers which can handle 6-v battery also? And where I could find one?

I know I could charge two batteries 6V+6V but what if I have only one 6V battery?

Hello petelms and welcome to Solar Panel Talk

I have not heard or seen a solar charge controller for 6V batteries. There may be some out there but I would be cautious of getting one from china because they do not always follow safe US standards in their manufacturing.

Or get a grid tied 6V battery charger. They aren't expensive and most will charge either a 6V or 12V battery.

My solar fence chargers use a internal 6V GEL cell and a 20w panel. But standalone 6V charge controllers are likely rare.

Based on those specs you will have to find a solar panel with only 11V maximum output rating

I quickly found one on amazon by looking for a 6V solar panel.
