Reliant, one of the energy companies here in Texas, has been hinting about "solar solutions" and renewable energy on their facebook. Does anyone know what they're planning to roll out, and if their systems are worthwhile?
Anyone know about Reliant's solar?

Hi WildTX - Welcome to Solar Panel Talk!
Sunking - who happens to live in Texas as well commented on Reliant and the possibilities just a couple of days back. He should be around before long.

Thanks. Seems like they're gonna announce something about renewable energy on the 21st. Hopefully I qualify.Comment

So Reliant is apparantly going to make their announcement at the Rangers-Astros game tonight, and trying to set a world record for the most number of people wearing sunglasses at night.Comment

Pretty much in line with the rest of the state utilities except for the Island we call Austin West (LEFT) Coast... Good business practice: Pay wholesale prices, and sale at retail. We have the nations lowest unemployment rate and highest standard of living in the country.

Only place in TX I know of with Net Metering is the Island of Austin where you sell at the same price you buy.MSEE, PEComment

Thanks for your help, Sunking. I'm trying to weight what's most cost effective, have you seen any specific reliant lease pricing?Comment

From One Texan to another go to Texas Choice and find the bet deal for your area over a 3 year contract period which should be about 10-cents/Kwh. Solar is not an option in TX except Austin. TX is a power house with cheap energy, good wages, low unemployment, low cost of living, and no state income taxes.
FWIW Champion Electric is one of the lowest cost resellers.MSEE, PEComment

First, please move this to the appropriate forum and I look forward to hearing from you and others as I have learned a great deal from numerous sites and specifically from this site and your posts (I now know a little, as opposed to the nothing I knew before! lol)
Do you know anything about Ontility out of Texas? www.ontility.com
I am about to buy 10 solar world sw230 mono panels from them for a little over $400 per panel, includes shipping to Colorado. fyi I am the stoopid guy on this forum who bought 5 used sw230 mono panels that have little to a max on 1 panel of 50% stated output. I do not blame the seller, I was told upfront that they may not work, but as a newbie, I looked at them and they seemed ok and the price was great, what could go wrong? lol
Ontility seems almost too good to be true and they offer even cheaper panels per watt.
My reason for buying the same panels is I already have a rooftop mounting system for these panels/sizes and can easily add five more panels for little cost and the ten would "match", and if the original 5 panels can be restored I can add 4 more and use the 15th elsewhere.
Feel free to ask any questions and again thanks to all for your help!Comment
