Solar PV Design Software and Google Earth

    Hi,
I recently contacted a vendor to work together on a pv contract and they submitted a very interesting pv array design which took the picture of the property from google earth and then they were able to transpose the array onto the actual satellite imagery itself. Suffice it to say, this was very impressive and visual to the customer and I was looking for the software they use to do this. Does anyone have ideas? I have seen traditional array software like solar design tool, autocad, google sketch up but haven't seen anything which could be integrated onto a google earth image. I have also viewed a previous thread on this subject called solar pv design software and was not able to get my answer.

    Thanks

    Just a guess

    - it was prob Google Sketch-Up. It's FOSS and reasonably easy to use.

Do you mind telling me what foss is and are there any links or videos which can teach me how to use specifically with regard to simulating the appearance of an array on a google earth image?

        Foss

"Free, Open-Source Software". Many installers are using Google Sketch-up to create mock-ups of their installs. It's fun to play with, you can master basic skills in hours, but true proficiency will take practice:

easily done with any graphic processing software. Wife uses google earth and visio together all the time.
