Best consumption meter for solaredge inverter

The CTs measure the current passing through them and then that is sent to the Wattnode and then to the Solaredge inverter to calculate the difference between production and consumption. I would think that it needs to be at the main panel, otherwise the CTs will only measure the power passing through the subpanel...

Right, the CT's are connected to the mains feed in the main panel. It's just the power to the right side of the meter that is connected to a breaker in the subpanel. Ctlsys support said it should be ok to do it that way.

The issue now is that although the meter lights are all green, the measurement simply shows everything as consumption.

EDIT: Issue is solved. Despite the CT's having clear marking for feed direction, they needed to be flipped. SolarEdge support was great.

Hi all, I installed a wattnode meter with my SolarEdge HD Wave Inverter, but as you can see it is showing my consumption in Wh instead of KWh. Any ideas on how to change this? There is no way I only used 252 Wh today with a pool pump, AC, and water heater running.

According to your screenshot, your consumption was 252 Wh. It doesn't seem right however, I would think your consumption is more than that...

Did you put the CTs at the main electrical panel? or a sub panel?

If you have a 120/240V single phase 3 wire system ((L1-N-L2) and you accidentally reverse one of the two Current Transformers (CTs) you will read the difference in power consumption between L1 and L2 instead of the sum.
Try disconnecting one CT to see whether the indicated consumption goes up or not. If the one still connected is the one which is backwards, it will claim that you are generating power rather than consuming it.

I just came across this discussion, and I am very interested in adding a consumption meter to my SolarEdge SE7600H-US HD inverter.
Looking on eBay at the wattmode power monitors, I see a few different types for sale.
Do I need a Continental Control Systems WNC-3Y-208-MB Wattnode Modbus Monitor w/ Xformer ?
please advise so I get the right one.

I am a long-time information gatherer and first-time poster.
I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone who self-installed the Wattnode modbus can answer a quick query. Did the solaredge monitoring site auto-detect the consumption meter and show data once the inverter is setup or does the solaredge online monitoring portal need to be configured as well?
I want to know whether I will have to then call up my old installer who still has admin access to persuade him to make the changes online. Any advise appreciated.

If I remember correctly, I just had to configure the meter on the inverter menu.

That worked. The App automatically updated with consumption info within a few seconds of connecting. Thanks!

Picked up a Wattnode meter on the cheap but need the terminal block plugin connectors. Can get them from CCS as "Two sets per bag" which makes me think there might be extra sets lying around. Anyone have some to sell?


9/11/13. Got the terminal blocks, now have extra if anybody needs some.
