All my Xantrex gear seems to run ok, batteries are my weak link.
And the advantage with OutBack there is that with a X240 transformer you can have more load on L1 or L2 than you have inverter capacity on L1 or L2. There are other neat tricks a transformer allows -- don't knock transformers!

I would not have battery back up. In ten years my power has went off maybe once . batteries die and after 5 years, and your batteries work what happens when the power goes out and so does a cell. I will take the clean generator anyday. unless i lived in the hills where they make moonshine i will take my generator, We go 2 weeks without sun here on the il wis border, then what no battery power, theres more people doing this than just in southern states where the sun shines everyday. I installed my own geo sys. 2 windmills. and i want sunkin and others on here to help me with a 5 k solar sys this spring. I have read his post and he does listen to people and gives all angles. And he doesnt come across as a know it all. to me anyway
