New junction box for Panel with only 2 tabs

I have a 100W panel that needs a new junction box. The panel has only two tabs and the box has a single diode and two connectors for the tabs, but all new boxes I've found have 3 diodes and 4 connectors. Can I use one of those and connect the tabs to the outermost connectors? Do I need to short the middle diode?

Some of the older panels only had a single diode based on how the cells were wired and had maybe half the cells in a single string. The new ones are wired so just blocking one cell on the panel will reduce the output by maybe a third instead of half because they have wired the cells into 3 or 4 strings.

Maybe. If your panel is wired for that many diodes. They are there to prevent backfeeding high voltage to the other strings if there is a short in one of the cell strings. Your old panel may only have 2 strings and 3 diodes may require additional wiring to make it work.
