HELP! Solar installer ghosted after partial payment before install

    Hi,

I wanted to do something nice for the next generation, and so for my daughter's first birthday, I decided to get Solar.

I got a few quotes from EnergySage, picked an installer after talking to one of the Energy Sage consultant.

I did all the paper work on time - signed the contracts, filled out energy company agreement forms, HOA forms etc and everything was ready for install. Some person from the company had even come over to inspect the electrical system, took some pictures but (weirdly) never went up on the roof.

Over these steps, I even paid the company thousands of dollars (about 1/3rd of total project cost) in 2 separate installments.

The install date came and went and there was no contact from them. I called several time and was told that they had to push the install date for <insert excuse here>. This happened at least 4 times and now they are even refusing to provide any date.

Several other folks are complaining about the same on their EnergySage page.

    https://www.energysage.com/supplier/...mit=4&offset=0

    Their license status is
License is under suspension for the following reasons:
License is suspended for failure to comply with an outstanding civil judgment.

I'm down thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it.

What are my options here? Any suggestions?

I tried contacting the EnergySage consultant but no response either. I guess they don't care after they get their cut.

Is there an option to take legal action to try to get my money back or compel them to install?

Would that cost even more money in lawyer fees?

Sorry to hear of your troubles. That said,
I believe internet advice is the 2022 version of 1900's saloon advice of the bartender and his/her patrons. Any good lawyer can let you know of his costs up front. I'd suggest starting there.

    Good luck

Your state contractors association is probably your only hope. They supposedly maintain a fund from the required license bond to cover this kind of thing.
Make sure and leave an appropriate review at solarreviews.com
