We are looking for somebody to install a kit that we provided to an owner where their electrician backed out after agreeing. Customer already has full plans and the solar equipment on hand, so she's in a tricky spot. We would love your help and I can give you my contact details if you'd be willing to help her out, or perhaps hear a bit more about this? If you wouldn't be willing to take this on yourself, could you perhaps recommend somebody?

She is in Feeding Hills, Zip 01030

@PVAndy, not sure how often you visit here, but figured I would try and @ you here in case it sends an alert.

Unfortunately we only do turnkey installs. How far along is the install? If it's basically done then I'd try a local installer as a repair. Did you pull a permit and get an approval to install from the utility.

If the AC size is over 10kW you'll need a net metering allocation which is oversubscribed in your area.

Last question do you have an approved SMART application

Install has not started yet and its only about 7kW. We just supplied the kit and permit package to an owner who had a contractor to install. The problems started when the contractor backed out. The package we generated has not even been submitted AHJ yet, but its a solid set of plans. We have reached out to some other contacts to see if we can get perhaps get some referrals for installers, but if you have any recommendations, or know others that could recommend somebody, then we'd be super appreciative.

I believe the owner wanted to apply for SMART, but this hasn't been touched yet either and is also stuck until she can find an installer.

Not yet as the owner wanted to find a new installer first due to worries about messing up getting approvals.

I know that Tesla was going to rent out solar panels. You can find out about that. I installed a couple of panels on my roof and the savings are much better than they were. Especially if something happens to them, an electrician Minneapolis will help me. You have the one where you live. So a great idea, all that's left to do is install good solar panels to reduce energy costs. In the long run they will pay for themselves in a couple of years. The main thing is that they should be of excellent quality, or the manufacturer provided a warranty for a few years.

Renting any thing concerning solar becomes very expensive and in the end hard to justify if you are looking at a decent ROI.

Also unless you plan on staying in a home for years (past the lifetime of the system) with a rented or leased solar pv system people actually have a hard time selling their home.
