    A free tool at http://www.solardesigntool.com/ allows you to
    • Design grid-tied solar electric systems for homes and business
    • Design both single-inverter and multi-inverter systems
    • Configure array layouts for single and multiple roofs
    • Compare configured systems side-by-side

    The paid for version has many additional features.

    It makes it very simple to compare panels from different manufacturers for example. Now, whether you have any idea what all the comparison means is a different story.
